Inspired Art: Drawing Voices Together (America SCORES St.Louis–Call-for-artists)

Just got this call-for-artists: The Inspired Art Project.

The St. Louis Inspired Art Show
Saturday, March 20, 2010 | 6pm to 9pm
Belas Artes Multicultural Center & Art Gallery
1854 Russell Blvd, St. Louis, MO

The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and submit original works, inspired by original poetry written by students participating in America SCORES St. Louis. Started a few years ago by another SCORES affiliate in the Bay Area, the Inspired Art Project is being realized here in St. Louis. See attachment for details about Inspired Art and America SCORES.

Through this cycle of inspiration and influence:

* students witness their creativity brought to life,
* artisists build connections with diverse communities around the City,
* SCORES’ supporters see the profound impact these youths’ words can have on others.

On, March 20, 2010, the selected artwork will be collected and displayed at our annual Inspired Art Show. Proceeds from the event will support America SCORES St. Louis, a unique, comprehensive, youth development program which uses the tools of poetry, soccer, creative expression and service-learning to equip and inspire urban youth to lead healthy lifestyles, become engaged students, and grow into leaders for their schools and communities.

The Inspired Art: Drawing Voices Together exhibition will be held at the Belas Artes Multicultural Center & Art Gallery fosters appreciation and understanding of world cultures through art. Their projects incorporate children and adults programs–workshops, art exhibits, dance and music performances and festivals.

When you rent their gallery spaces, or patronize their events you are supporting the future of the arts as well as the education of children and adults to become better citizens of the world. Their slogan: “Connecting people & cultures through heART” is close to that of Riehlife: creating connections through the arts and across cultures.
